How Our Daily Choices Affect Our Tomorrows

...But you need to know that the foundation for that kind of character, that kind of stand, was made early in life.  Resolutions they had made as young men, they were able to keep when they were older.

That reminds us that when you are building a house, the most important time is not when you put the roof on or when you paint the walls or decorate (though that may be the fun part), the most important part is when you lay the foundation, and you put in the wiring and you put in the plumbing, all those important parts of the house that will support everything else that is to come.

And in the same way, in life, the most important time is at the beginning; when the foundation is being laid, the time of our youth.  For it is there that we set our course; our habits are developed, our attitudes are formed.  It is during our youth that decisions are made that affect us for the rest of our lives.  Career choices, marriage choices, seeds that are sown that will be reaped in the years ahead.

We are all going to be a year older next year.  So I am making decisions today that will be played out by this time next year.  The stand you make today will determine what kind of stand you will make tomorrow.  You decide what principles you are going to live by because every day we make hundreds of decisions as to whether or not we are going to sow to the flesh or sow to the Spirit.
