"It is often easy to see problems, but difficult to make the hard choices and risks that result in change." Boundaries Books
As we begin a new year, instead of focusing on making New Years Resolutions and then (inevitably) beating yourself up when you fail to continue whatever it is you began, why not just take every day and every hour as an opportunity to choose what will most benefit you long-term and that which will result in the least amount of guilt, shame, and regret?
The choices we make on a momentary basis all have an impact on our tomorrows. Make your future self proud by making decisions each day that reflect maturity, respect, responsibility, and will help you move forward into a future you can smile at because you know you are putting in the effort beginning now to ensure consequences that profit and build up (instead of tearing you down and bringing unforeseen suffering to you and those around you).
I'm astounded at the fact that our choices do not only affect us, but are far-reaching. It's a sobering thought to ponder and if we allow it to put in us a fear of straying from what is wholesome, we can better ensure others have a bright future as well.
Remember...
"History is made every time you make a decision."
"You are free to choose but the choices you make today will determine what you will be, do, and have in the tomorrows of your life."
"Everything in your life is a reflection of a choice you have made. If you want a different result, make a different choice."
"You express the truth of your character, your dedication to your goals, and your commitment to your relationships with the choice of your actions."
"I am who I am today because of the choices I made yesterday."
"With every choice you make, you create your life."
"As much as people refuse to believe it, the company you keep does have an impact and influence on your choices."
"You must constantly ask yourself these questions: Who am I around? What are they doing for me? What have they got me reading? What have they got me saying? Where do they have me going? What do they have me thinking? And most important, what do they have me becoming? Then ask yourself the big question: Is that okay? Your life does not get better by chance, it gets better by change."
"The trouble with trouble is, it starts out as fun."
