God is Infinite

Earlier, I spoke with a friend over the phone who complained that as humans, there will always be questions and we won’t ever have the answers to everything.  This individual’s point was to say that God hasn’t given us answers to everything and was trying to say this was unfair and questioning it.

I replied, “When your kids were three years old, did you give them all the answers?”  He remarked, “No, I don’t have all the answers.”  So I said, “No, when your kids were three years old, you being an adult, did you tell them everything?  Of course not!  Why?  Because they were only three years old and couldn’t even understand or comprehend what you were saying.  It is like showing a photo of a beautiful island to a baby.  The baby may glance at the photo and then continue chewing its pacifier and not see the glories of the island.  Why is this?  It is not because the island isn’t beautiful.  It is because the baby doesn’t have the capacity or ability to fathom the beauty of the island.  Similarly, as human beings, we are finite and God is infinite.  He is high above us.  How prideful and stubborn of us to think that we could even receive all the answers, or ask them. …”
