Words Can Build Up or Literally Destroy

Words.

Stupid.  Lazy.  Difficult.  Fat.  Goofy.  Awkward.

Intelligent.  Wise.  Smart.  Kind.  Helpful.  Funny.  Considerate.  Friendly.  Precious.  Valuable.  Dear.

Which words would you rather hear?

We all have the power to build up or tear down.  Please, for the sake of how people might view themselves for many years to come, choose wisely.

"Look at the ships also, though they are so great and are driven by strong winds, are still directed by a very small rudder wherever the inclination of the pilot desires.  So also the tongue is a small part of the body, and yet it boasts of great things.  See how great a forest is set aflame by such a small fire!"  James 3: 4-5

"Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my rock and my Redeemer."  Psalm 19: 14

"When there are many words, transgression is unavoidable, but he who restrains his lips is wise."  Proverbs 10: 19

"There is one who speaks rashly like the thrusts of a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing."  Proverbs 12: 18

"A man has joy in an apt answer, and how delightful is a timely word!"  Proverbs 15: 23

"The heart of the wise instructs his mouth and adds persuasiveness to his lips.  Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones."  Proverbs 16: 23-24

"He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit, than he who captures a city."  Proverbs 16: 32

"He who guards his mouth and his tongue, guards his soul from troubles."  Proverbs 21: 23
